Break the
Silence – End the Violence

International Women's
Day

 
Global vigil in Washington, D.C., New York,
Boston, Oakland, Washington, San Francisco, New Orleans, Dallas, Denver, Vashon
Island, and several other cities throughout the United States, Canada, 
Brussels, Belgium, North and South Kivu in Congo and Europe gathering in
solidarity with the women of the Congo as they overcome the challenges of war,
rape and sexual violence.
 

SUNDAY, MARCH 8,
2009

 
Nearly six million people have died in the
ongoing Congolese war since 1996 and hundreds of thousands of women and girls
raped and mutilated. 45,000 Congolese continue to die each month. Congolese
women who recently arrived from the Congo will show films, provide testimonies
and present reports about the impact of conflict and rape on women and children
in the Congo.
