02.11.18 Congo Research Group publiceert twee rapporten over verkiezingen

NEW YORK – This Thursday, November 01, 2018, Congo Research Group (CRG) based at New York University is publishing its first in a series studies on the current electoral process. The report is available in French here:

This report highlights the politicization of two of the institutions with a key role in the organization of elections: the Independent National Electoral Commission (CENI) and the Constitutional Court, both disputed and whose members are accused of bias. These accusations, together with the lack of consensus within the political class and the popular protests that may ensue, risk plunging the DRC into a new cycle of conflict.
A day before, CRG, together with the Bureau d’Études, de Recherches et de Consulting International (BERCI), published their first poll since the publication of the final list of candidates for the presidential election scheduled for December 23, 2018 The entire report can be found in French here:
The poll shows that the publication of the list of 21 presidential candidates has upset the Congolese political scene. With the dismissal of the candidacies of Jean-Pierre Bemba and Moïse Katumbi, Felix Tshisekedi is now the favorite to win the polls, with 36% of respondents saying they would vote for him, followed by Vital Kamerhe (17%), Emmanuel Ramazani Shadary (16%), Martin Fayulu (8%), and Freddy Matungulu (5%).
