An exciting
opportunity exists for an experienced senior manager and leader to head
our operational programme in DR Congo. Tearfund has been implementing
relief and rehabilitation projects in Eastern DR Congo since 2002. The
programme currently has 15 international staff, 150 national staff and
an annual turn of £4 million. Projects are implemented in 3 locations,
covering Watsan, Food Security, and Public Health Promotion. We are
looking for a Programme Director with proven humanitarian sector
experience plus strong leadership and management skills in order to
effectively lead the implementation of the programme in accordance with
Tearfund’s approach to good practice, policy and strategy.

 

The post-holder will have responsibility
for developing and outworking the strategy for Tearfund’s operational
work in DR Congo, together with leading the senior management team
responsible for programme implementation, logistics, finance and human
resources. Strong experience is required in leadership and people
management, budget management, donor relations, proposal development and
reporting, and donor and corporate compliance. The post-holder is also
responsible for representing Tearfund, liaising with and advocating to
Government departments, UN bodies, INGOs and local Partners.

The role requires frequent travel to field
sites. Applicants will be educated to degree level and must have
substantive up to date working knowledge of humanitarian environments
within an International NGO environment. Excellent written and spoken
English is essential, as well as the ability to read and speak good
conversational French. An assessment of your Francophone ability will be
part of the recruitment process.
