Konono N°1 was founded at the beginning of the 1980s ago by Mingiedi, a virtuoso of the likembé (the traditional instrument sometimes called "sanza" or "thumb piano", consisting of metal rods attached to a resonator).

The first half is an historical introduction; the second is a collection of black and white photos of African sculpture and masks.
