Washington, Feb. 7, Women's March against Rape and Violence
We, Congolese and all women, individually committed to show the pain, trauma and suffering of Congolese women, congratulate the Congolese community for standing up on January the 17th against the atrocities and violence that have been inflicted upon the Congolese nation and women. In turn we, Congolese women, and all women who are appalled by the fate of Congolese women and children prepare ourselves to humanize the trauma of Congolese women on February 07, 2009, in Washington, D.C. Our February 07 march is a march of mourning, a march to humanize the Congolese pain; it is a march to make visible the suffering that has been for a long time invisible. It is a cry to the new administration of the United States of America to end the pain of Congolese women and to give them back their dignity and right to life. This march is also a march of celebration and thanks to the new Obama administration for making, according to the Secretary of State Ms. Hillary Rodham Clinton during her confirmation hearing of January the 13th, “the mass killings and rapes in the Congo” a priority. Please join us to mourn, to decry the violence in the Congo, and to articulate our desire for Congolese people and womens right to life and dignity.
